Jack and Jill went Downhill by R J Gould – A realistic romantic novel about fairytale relationships.
“They think they have it all. Then it starts to go wrong.“
Freshers Big Party Night and it’s love at first sight. There’s passing amusement when they discover that their names are those of the nursery rhyme, but the connection with the children’s story is long forgotten as the relationship thrives. They fail to recognise that their lives are replicating the nursery rhyme plot as misdemeanours result in Jack falling down. Before long Jill is tumbling after.
Reviews for Jack and Jill went Downhill
“This book follows the lives of Jack and Jill, from their first meeting at university to their entry into the world of work and married life. It’s a funny and poignant read, and I found the two main characters – in fact the whole book – entirely believable. When you’re at university you picture your life ahead of you bright with all its possibilities, and then reality hits. The author paints the passing of the years, the changing lives and relationships, really well – so well that I found myself turning the pages late into the night in order to find out how everything would be resolved. The dialogue between the couple was sharp and funny, and their relationships with their families were really well drawn. I felt myself thoroughly immersed in their world and was sorry to leave them when the story finished!” – Eilish – five star Amazon review
“What a refreshing read. A true love story but with a twist. Laugh out loud moments. You want to dislike Jack but can’t. He’s a loveable rogue. Jill doesn’t suffer fools and good for her. It didn’t go as I expected it to, which was a pleasant change and it’s left me wanting to read more from this author…” – Janet Pickard – Five star Amazon review
